This classic recipe has been refreshed and updated time after time, our variation has a gluten-free pasta twist. Perfect for every member of the family to enjoy!
Toppings for the recipe are perfectly customisable. Before baking, cover your gluten-free casserole with more cheese or breadcrumbs for a traditional topping or finish with your favourite gluten-free potato chips. Not necessarily a healthy choice, but a delicious one nonetheless!
Choose your seasoning according to your tastes as well. Other than salt & pepper, onion and garlic powders are an easy, delicious addition. Sprinkle a little paprika for a delicious depth of flavour or add some spice with chilli flakes.
Ingredients:
- 400g gluten-free pasta shapes of your choice (not noodles)
- 40g butter
- 40g GF flour
- 400ml milk (full cream is recommended)
- 150g strong grated cheddar (make sure it’s gluten-free)
- 1 drained can of tuna (160g)
- 330g drained can of corn
Optional:
- Seasoning of choice (E.g., salt & pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, chilli flakes)
- Toppings of choice (E.g., cheese, breadcrumbs, or gluten-free potato chips)
Method:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C conventional or 160°C fan-forced.
- Boil water in a large saucepan. Once bubbling, add the pasta. Cook to your personal preference.
- In a smaller saucepan, make the sauce by combining melted butter and gradually stirring in the GF flour over low heat.
- Cook for 1 minute, then slowly stir in the milk until fully combined, creating a thick sauce. Remove from the stove and stir in the cheese.
- In the same saucepan (containing your sauce), combine the pasta, tuna, and corn. Season to taste.
- Transfer to a baking dish and add your preferred toppings. Bake for about 30 minutes or until the cheese on top is golden brown and bubbling slightly.
