Can patients with mild latex allergies use GluteGuard?

GluteGuard should not be used by individuals with allergies to papaya fruit (paw paw), or natural rubber latex. Whilst GluteGuard does not contain added latex (as in the sap from the Hevea brasiliensis tree), GluteGuard’s active ingredient is a natural latex extracted from the skin of the unripe papaya fruit. Individuals with allergies to certain foods like bananas, avocados, or kiwi may also be at increased risk due to cross-reactivity with latex proteins.

Latex allergy symptoms may include mild skin symptoms including rashes; itch; swelling; dizziness; lightheadedness or mild gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, stomach discomfort, or diarrhoea. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, it’s important to stop using GluteGuard and seek medical attention if symptoms worsen.

While latex allergies are rare, we recommend that individuals suspecting or diagnosed with latex allergies to consult their healthcare professional before using GluteGuard.
